EQUESTRIAN KAREN Begley almost did it again at the Horse of the Year Show at Brickfields — but a scatty horse called Janina Z had other plans.
Karen’s dominance of last year’s show, winning all five of the major horse trophies, was broken by Janina Z in the intermediate horse of the year category.
Janina Z, ridden by Emma Tharme, won a jump-off in the intermediate competition to deny Karen a third win of the day aboard Harlequinn.
However, Karen went onto win open horse of the year with Dubai Star and IW Showjumper of the Year with Mondriaan.
Jade Davies and Gobinstown Lad was junior showjumper of the year and open pony of the year.
