WYCOMBE Central Aid is to benefit from an event held at Godstowe Preparatory School which raised more than £2,200 for its funds.

The charity provides help to needy people in the High Wycombe area and the school, in Shrubbery Road, High Wycombe, held the event following an appeal in Midweek's sister paper the Free Press last summer and combined the event with a reunion of past pupils of the school.

Various stalls were set up in the effort to raise funds for the charity including book stalls and a raffle on Saturday

Mary Mitchell, the charity's secretary, said: "It was really packed out. We had our own stall selling bric-a-brac and we raised about £200 so we have great expectations for the final total."

The charity, founded by Dame Frances Dove, first President of Godstowe School Council, launched the appeal after overspending by around £1,000 a month.
