SEVEN IW Jiu Jitsu fighters earned a ten-medal haul at a competition in Southampton last weekend.

The IW Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & MMA Academy team competed at the Grapplers Showdown event, returning with four goals, four silvers and two bronzes.

Doug Atkinson was the big winner on the day, taking home two gold medal in his class and weight division, with Mateusz Halas winning one gold and won silver.

Also winning gold was academy coach Martin Dell, with Paul Manning winning a silver medal. Winning a silver and a bronze each were Jacob Meller and Sophie Knight.

Martin said: "Our academy is fast building a reputation for having a very hard-working and successful competition team.

"My students train hard and reap the rewards from the hard work they put in on the mats. Last year we brought home over 40 medals as a team and this year I intend for us to eclipse that number."
