CYCLIST Jorge Millan battled through the pain of a shoulder injury to take part in the third round of the Wessex Cyclocross League last weekend.
The Wight Mountain/Red Funnel team member crashed during the warm-up ahead of his senior race, badly injuring his shoulder. But despite this, he rode on to finish 19th, a great achievement. Team-mate Alec Broome also took part in the senior race, but didn’t start well after getting stuck in the main pack and getting held up in a tangle of bikes. He was unable to fight through the field and was disappointed to finish 46th.
Meanwhile, in the veterans’ race, Martin Dymond avoided an early crash and revelled in the fast and technical course to finish 14th.
Two IW cyclists held their own in the final round of the Omega Circuits in Portsmouth.
Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team riders Pete Moore and Kev Foster finished in the middle of the pack, after nine riders broke away from the main bunch to fight for the podium places.
