DARTS

YOUNG darts player Keegan Brown produced a class act to win one of the Unicorn world youth events in Wigan.

Keegan, of Newport, did not have the best of starts, losing the first competition of the day, exiting to Kurt Parry, 4-3.

But, in the second competition, he found his form, beating Damien Smith — which including a 164 checkout and score line of 4-2 — as well as former England Youth Player Josh Payne by the same score.

Keegan then came from 3-1 down to beat Jamie Landon 4-3, winning the last three legs in 39 darts, which included three 180s.

He defeated Jamie Pitchrett 4-3, before defeating former world youth champion Arron Monk 4-1 in the semi-final.

Keegan took victory and the £500 prize by beating George Killington 4-1 in the final.

The win has moved Keegan up to the top five in the rankings. He said: "It’s brilliant that I’ve reached the top five and with only two events left I want to stay there."

The following day, Keegan was unable to repeat his form and lost in the last 64 to Jamie Lewis.
