DUATHLON
GARETH Knight won the nominated-time element of Wight Tri’s Parkhurst Duathlon over the weekend.
The first duathlon of the winter series was held in icy conditions, and the 22 competitors had the choice of either a short or long run of 5km or 7km, with a 21km bike course in between.
Gareth won the nominated-time race, finishing only 32 seconds outside his nomination.
The long course winner was Dave Dent, with a total time of 1.31.34, followed by Steve Gratton in 1.34.07.
Newcomer Mandy Womack finished the short course in second place just behind Alec Broome.
The club’s next event is in East Cowes on January 6, from 10am. You can find more details on www.wighttri.org and non-members are welcome.
