The future of African people in Britain will be debated at an Anglo-Nigerian conference at Harrow Civic Centre.

Recent studies carried out in the borough indicated grave concern among Nigerian parents that their children were forgetting about the traditions and values of their country of origin.

The forum is being organised by Josephine Aligbe, who is hoping to help black people realise their potential in British society.

"Our main aim is to discuss the way towards encouraging the vitality and spirit often hidden amongst black youth of African heritage and begin to mobilise their talents," she said.

"The time has arrived for African youths here to discuss how they may be affected by the myriad changes to come about and beyond the 20th century."

The conference will be held in the Members' Lounge of the Civic Centre in Station Road, Harrow, on Tuesday March 10, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. For further details contact Mrs Aligbe on 0181 954 7446 or 0181 205 8822.
