More sporting events called off

More sporting events have fallen victim to the bad weather today (Saturday).

Following yesterday's news that Cowes Sports's friendly with Hamble ASSC had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, today's other major friendly, between Newport and Three Bridges, has also been called off.
Meanwhile, in cricket's worst season for a decade, the Island league programme has been decimated, with almost all matches washed out, while Ventnor's Southern Electric Premier League game against South Wilts at Newclose is also off.
And after overnight heavy rain, the annual two-day motocross event in memory of Tom Rees at Corve Farm, Chale, has also been cancelled. It is not known if the event will be rescheduled.
