Despite a great start, Shorwell lost their Division 3 South Region League match at home to MSN on Sunday.

The Islanders had a good three-goal lead by the end of the first quarter, however, MSN’s 6’6" goal shooter caused Shorwell some problems, as the mainlanders made full use of her height advantage to secure them the half-time lead.

Great work for Shorwell by wing attack Leanne Higginson and centre Alice Sheen, saw some slick play down the court and precise passes into their goal area, and these were converted to points by shooters Hayley Williams and Kirsty Barbour.

By the end of the third quarter, Shorwell were only trailing by five goals.

Unfortunately a couple of Shorwell centre passes were converted by the visitors in the final quarter, and despite great attempts to intercept in defence by man of the match Freya Glasbey, Juliet MacNeil and Jamie White, the visitors went on to win by nine.

Shorwell: Williams, Barbour, Higginson, Sheen, Macneil, Glasbey, White, Holt, Rackett, Brook.
