Jess Andrews.
ATHLETICS
JESS Andrews set a new IW record at the British Milers Club Grand Prix in Solihull last weekend.
After running PBs over 1,500m and 5,000m, Jess set a new record in the 1,500m, eclipsing the one set by Bryony Frost in 2004 at the same event.
In perfect conditions Jess was competing in the women’s C race, and ran the first lap in 71.1 seconds. They hit 800m in exactly 2.22, and on the final bell was in a strong position. In an exciting finish with two other athletes, Jess was rewarded with a new personal best of 4.30.48 to finish fifth.
Coach Geoff Watkin said: "It was a delight to see Jess eclipse such a good performance, rewarding her for all of her hard work this season."
