Old Loughtonians 3 Southgate 2.

(National Hockey League).

OLD Loughts made a dramatic comeback to steal the points from local rivals Southgate on Sunday and keep alive their hopes of finishing above the Trent Park side. But they made a slow start and Southgate looked much the sharper team. The visitors took a deserved lead midway through the first half from a short corner. The scoreline remained 1-0 until after the break when Southgate were allowed to extend their lead. Sam Robinson gifted a pass to the Southgate centre forward, Carolan, and he took full advantage. At this stage, Loughts were hanging on grimly and seemed unlikely to get anything out of the game. This all changed when they were able to put some pressure on the young, inexperienced Southgate defence and found a new lease of life. Three quick goals from Ian Morrison, Jason Lee and Glenn Prebble stunned the visitors and gave Loughts the win.Loughts made it a winning weekend having already beaten a struggling Hounslow side at Luxborough Lane on Saturday. Youngsters Olly Davis, Gareth Ingram and Amandeep Bolina were all drafted into the squad, but it was the away team who were first off the mark when Paul Dover's defensive error let them in for a breakaway goal. Loughts countered well and created several chances before Ian Morrison eventually scored in the second half. The winner for the Old Boys came from Nick Thompson, whose shot from the top of the circle was just too good for the Hounslow keeper.Loughts now have only one game left, away at Teddington this Sunday.
