POOL SIMEON pool players dominated proceedings at Ryde and District Pool League’s presentation night.

The event, which was hosted by the Simeon Arms, capped a successful season for the league, where the awards were spread fairly evenly.

However, Simeon A took the main prize as league winners, while their top player, Mike Larkins, won the most consistent player award.

Their captain, Alan Johns, also won the Captain’s Cup.

Oakfield enjoyed a double victory, with Matt Hamilton from the club’s A side winning the singles’ competition, while Ian Warrington and Lenny Hodges (Oakfield B) won the doubles from Frank Wilmer and Alex Clark (Stanleys).

Meanwhile, league runners-up Crown A were also runners-up in the singles’ competition, captain Ian Williams picking up an award.

The six-a-side tournament was won by Falcon A, with Ryde Social runners-up.

Crown B won the league wooden spoon award, while there was also a special presentation to outgoing secretary Mike Lazarus and treasurer Pete Irons.

After the presentations, the players joined for a game of Killer, a fun pub game of pool where players have three lives before being knocked out.

New league chairman John Walsh, who will be assisted by new treasurer Gavin Sellick and secretary Porscha Campbell, said: "It was a really good night, and it was particularly nice to see lots of old and new faces."

The league is holding an AGM and final registration night for the new season at the Crown Hotel, on September 13. Teams can register beforehand by picking up an entry form, which will be available in many Ryde pubs over the coming weeks.
