TEENAGE golfer Josh Oddy has celebrated his first professional pay cheque after a brilliant performance in Bahrain.

Oddy, 19, of Ventnor, finished third in the King Hamad invitational after completing three rounds in -3, +1 and -7.

His performance earned the Ryde Golf Club member $3,200 in US dollars, and concluded his first year on the Euro Pro Tour in fine style.

Oddy said: “I just felt like I belonged there.

“It has been tough this year because I’ve been close to making the cut five times.

“It just came together for me in Bahrain and it felt amazing.

“It has opened a few more doors for me and I really hope I can build on it next year.”

Oddy, who is sponsored by Golfing 4 Life, a not-for-profit company, which supports junior golfers, will head to a training camp in Majorca in January, before returning to the Euro Pro Tour.

However, he doesn’t plan to stop there.

Oddy added: “Hopefully I can get a win on the Euro Pro Tour but ultimately, I’m aiming to play on the European Tour.

“It’s a step at a time but I’m looking forward to it.”
