THE Isle of Wight has equalled its best-ever medal haul at the World Island Youth Games.
The team has returned with nine medals, meaning they finished ninth overall at the event in Sardinia, which finished on Saturday.
Among the winners was swimmer Izabella Olesinska Blacklock, 14, who won gold medals in the 50m and 200m backstroke.
Team manager, Lee Matthews, said the whole team should be proud of its achievements.
He said: "It was a fantastic achievement, both for the medal haul and the overall team performance.
"Many produced new personal bests and the general feeling among everyone is they want to move forward with their sports to reach even higher levels."
