The former Royal Windsor Laundry on Bonner Hill Road will be converted to provide 18 flats and a new three storey building containing six flats will be built after planning permission was agreed by Kingston's planning committee last week.
The family-run business was forced to close after more than 50 years when the freeholders decided to sell the building.
Councillor Derrick Chester said: "We are pleased to have managed to preserve part of the heritage of the site by preserving the laundry building."
