RYDE returned to form in some style on Saturday as they beat Bournemouth II’s by 104 runs in Hampshire County Division 1.

Batting first, Ryde lost two early wickets but a stand of 183 for the third wicket from Lawrence Tolfrey (119) and Josh Procter (125 not out) set up the innings for a huge total in good scoring conditions.

The pair stayed patient and took opportunities when the presented themselves. When Tolfrey was out, Cameron Mitchell joined Procter in a destructive onslaught from the closing overs.

Mitchell hit 37 off just 18 balls and Procter finished with eight sixes setting the visitors 325 to win.

Bournemouth were restricted in the early overs with some fine economical bowling from the Ryde attack and when wickets started to fall it was just a matter of Ryde trying to bowl the opposition out to gain maximum points. Ben Gregory and Harry Bradley picked up three wickets each as Bournemouth were eventually bowled out in the 49th over for 220, giving Ryde 24 points from the game.
