STUDENTS at Nettlestone Primary School have been learning to sail, thanks to Sea View Yacht Club.
Commodore Michael Smith invited Year 5 pupils to take part in a RYA sailing course, giving them the chance to sail in the club’s Pico fleet.
All gained a certificate at the end of the course and the scheme was so successful, next year’s intake will have the same opportunity.
PE teacher Jamie McInnes added: “It has been an amazing opportunity for our children to try something completely new.
“They have absolutely loved the chance to get out on the water and we have seen huge improvements in their confidence and self-esteem as a result.
“We are extremely grateful to commodore Michael Smith and the club for giving Nettlestone Primary School this chance.”
