Sails take petanque top spot

PETANQUEBARGEMAN’S Sails are the new leaders of the petanque winter league, after a 6-1 win over Princess Royal last week.

Former leaders Newport Keepers, who did not have a game, have been pushed down into third place as a result.

In second are Barn Stormers, who are just two points off the top spot, thanks to Kevin Gifford and Richard Salter’s great 13-1 final leg victory against the Bandits.

Chuckit and Chancers move up two places due to their 5-2 win, in a close match, against Ventnor Tonkers.

Hotshots whitewashed the Paraletics, overwhelmeing them with a great 13-0 win by Tim Blackmore and Terry Parkman. Brighstone Badgers had a comfortable win against the Horseshoe Ringers, who remain tethered at the bottom.
