NEWPORT FC warmed up for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Salisbury City by winning a tense Sydenhams Wessex League game at Fawley 4-3 last night (Wednesday).
A hat trick from Alex Przepolewski and a goal from John McKie earned Newport the points to keep their unbeaten league run going.
This was despite Port going behind early on and being forced to hang on at the end.
Manager Steve Brougham said his big injury blow before Saturday's FA Cup tie at St George's (kick off 3pm) was the loss of defender Jon Holmes, who picked up an ankle ligament injury last Saturday.
"We will have to play at our absolute best for 90 minutes against Salisbury and hope they have an off day if we are to get anything," said Brougham.
