Tranmere Ladies 0 Arsenal Ladies 3, FA Women's Premier League Cup Final - Thanks to goals from Marieanne Spacey and Angela Banks on Sunday, the league cup will be returning to Highbury for the fourth consecutive year.
The first half, watched by a crowd of 2,006 at Chester's Deva Stadium, saw both sides sharing possession though it was slightly shaded by Tranmere, who looked dangerous on the break.
At the start of the second half the Gunners went into action. Marieanne Spacey netted Arsenal's opener in the 52nd minute when she burst past two defenders to beat Tranmere's keeper Foster. Spacey delivered Arsenal's second strike moments later when she intercepted the ball from Foster's goal kick.
In the final 15 minutes the Gunners put the game beyond Tranmere's reach through Angela Banks. The England international netted through an excellent right-footed volley.
After the game, Arsenal's two-goal heroine Marieanne Spacey said: "It's always nice to win, especially the league cup. This is the fourth time on the trot that we've won it. Our manager Vic Akers said we deserved to win it on our second half performance."
