ALMOST 150 children donned bright pink T-shirts and their running trainers on Saturday to take part in a unique sporting event.
Seaclose Park provided the venue for the Go Run for Fun event, one of hundreds taking part around the country in an effort to help children become more active.
The children, aged from just five years old up to 13, ran one mile around the park, led by IW runner and primary school teacher Tom Wade.
There were no times, or overall prizes, but there were plenty of smiles as proud parents cheered their sons and daughters over the line, and a certificate for everyone who took part.
However, there were some very impressive performances, particularly from the first youngster to finish. Izaac Kent, ten, who also runs the weekly parkrun event, finished in around ten minutes.
Some runners were accompanied by their parents. Neo Bilsby, five, of Northwood, had his mum, Nicola, for company, as well as his friend, Benjamin Westbrook, five, of Cowes.
Neo said: "It was so much fun and the best bit was the finish. I would like to do more running."
Benjamin added: "Now I want to be really fast."
