ATHLETICS

THERE were some fantastic results for the IW Special Olympics team at Hillingdon Sports Centre last weekend.

It was their first visit to the venue and it proved to be a happy hunting ground.

In the long jump, Jon Baker and Carl Harvey won their divisions, James Hay came second and Andy Powell third, while Christopher Burgess and Sarah Beane came fourth and fifth, in their divisions.

In the soft ball throw, Charlie Burgess won his category, with Nathan Bound second. In another division, AnnaRosa Cretella achieved sixth.

On the track, James had a very good 200m against strong opposition and did himself proud, taking gold.

In the women’s 100m, AnnaRosa also took gold, while Christopher, Nathan, Charlie and Andy found themselves in the same 100m race which was interesting. Christopher, a force to be reckoned with, took silver while the others came third, sixth and seventh.

Carl and Sarah both managed fourth places in their races and Jon came fifth.
