SQUASH sensation Amelie Haworth defied her age by reaching the final of the British Junior Squash Championships.
The 11 year old, of Godshill, competed in the under-13s category at the Manchester event recently.
She progressed to the semi final without losing a single game, and reached the final with an 11-7 win in the decider.
Amelie faced the top seed, Asia Harris, in the final, and lost the opening two games 11-6, 11-9.
She overcame her nerves to win the third 11-9 but lost the fourth 11-7.
However, her coach, Adam Dominey, was full of praise for her efforts.
He said: “It was a great achievement to reach the final of such a prestigious tournament.
“Amelie has another year in this category, while her opponent is about to move up, so to compete at the same level with someone nearly two years older shows the talent she has.
“There’s definitely more to come.”
