STEVE King produced the only under-par score to win Albany Golf Society’s Tony Hayden Cup at Osborne Golf Club.
The weather was once again right for golfing with sunshine and a slight breeze, with King the runaway winner. Second and third respectively were John Newbury and Chris Cragg.
The afternoon scratch stableford was won by Willie Mack, Cragg, and Adam Wilson.
Jack Ince played the shot of the day, when he put his tee shot just one inch from the hole on the par three 15th, nearly an expensive round. The Ocean Deck-sponsored knock-out competition also saw its quarter-final line up decided, with Cragg, Ince, and King among those who made it through to the last eight to be played at Osborne in July.
Next is the society’s championship, where four trophies will be played for at Cowes.
