IW ARE still at the top of the Hampshire Squash League despite suffering their first defeat of the season at Chichester.
Key player Adam Dominey was out through an injury sustained in the previous week’s win over Lee on Solent II.
Chris Green stepped in as top seed and battled hard, winning in the final game 9-4. Callum Arnott continued his unbeaten run winning comfortably in straight games, but defeats for Jamie MacNaughton and Rob Haworth put IW on the back food.
Oliver Clifton-Moore was close to taking the first game but eventually found himself 2-0 down and although he won the third game 9-0, he couldn’t sustain the intensity and lost the fourth game and the match, for an overall 16-8 defeat for the IW.
A week before, the side defeated Lee on Solent II with ease, 19-7.
Haworth got the Island off to a good start with a 3-0 win, while MacNaughton conceded a 2-0 lead to lose the match 3-2. Arnott won his game 3-1, while Green battled hard to win his match 3-2.
Finally Dominey, who tore ligaments in foot early in the game, won his match 3-1 to complete another good performance for the team.
