London Nigerian are appealing to the league about Harrow's failure to honour their crucial promotion game on Saturday, after the referee arrived late.

Both teams arrived in good time for the scheduled 3pm kick-off, but events quickly degenerated into shambles:

2.30pm: The referee hasn't arrived. Nigerians officials attempt to contact him by mobile phone.

2.55pm: Still no referee. The Harrow captain says his side will agree to play, providing the referee arrives by 3.15. The idea of appointing a a club official to referee the game is dismissed as this is too important a match for an unqualified referee.

3pm: Kick-off time. No ref.

3.10pm: Harrow committee members unofficially announce the game is off because three of their players have to go to work immediately after the game. The Harrow team starts getting changed. Nigerians remain ready to honour the fixture and await the referee.

3.12pm: The referee arrives. He says he was caught up in bad traffic.

3.15pm: The referee says he wants the game to go ahead, but can't start it with one team.

3.20pm: The first Harrow players emerge from the changing rooms, and leave.

As Times Sport went to press it was unclear what action would ensue, but London Nigerian are seeking a rescheduling of the fixture.
