FIVE new Island swimming records — including three from one swimmer — were set at the IW Championships at the weekend.
Seaclose swimmer Lottie James, competing in the 17-18 age category, set new records in the 100m freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events, in 1.00.04, 1.06.31 and 1.14.47 respectively.
In the men’s section, West Wight’s Sam Tinson-Wood posted the fastest time of the day in the 19 and over age group, to beat his own record in the 100m freestyle, in 52.68.
Ryde’s Jake Williams, swimming in the 17-18 category, also broke his own record, set last year, in the 100m backstroke, in 59.22.
In total, more than 150 new personal best times were achieved by Island swimmers.
