SHOOTING THE FIVE-year reign of Trevor Long in the IW Target Shooting Association’s Black Powder Pistol shoot at Sainham, was ended last weekend.
The West Wight shooter was pipped to the post by Newport’s David Atkin, who shot 159, two more than Long. Third was Ben Sadler, also of Newport, on 134.
This competition is open to all affiliated IW clubs and is for muzzle-loading pistols.
At club level, Newport and District Rifle Club held its Mountbatten Memorial snap shoot at Newtown.
The shoot called for total concentration as there are no allowances whatsoever for any jams, stoppages or malfunctions. Alan Foxworthy scored a maximum with Atkin second and Sadler third.
