TABLE TENNIS

NEWPORT Vics A show no sign of letting go of their lead in Division 1 of the IW Table Tennis League, after a 9-1 win over Rookley Wombats.

Iain Hall, Tom Johnson and Stephen White fought hard for the Wombats not making the games easy wins for Vics A, comprising Chris Angus, Daniel Burns and Anna Joyce.

Smallbrook A are doing their best to stay on their tail after a 8-2 win over Bembridge Goodies, Lee Orton and Andrew Ely winning three games each.

Third place Ryde Rhinos have a game in hand over Vics A and are only ten points behind. They could have made things easier this week but only managed a 5-5 draw against Vics B, a hard team to beat.

Havenstreet A could still threaten the higher placed teams with some good results from the games they have in hand. This week’s 8-2 victory over Ryde Nil boosted their chances.

Heading division 2 are Newport Vics C (Raymond Ferris, Barry Joyce, Dave Newnham), who have six wins out of six, giving them a total of 53 points. A convincing 10-0 win over Smallbrook Warriors this week helping their cause.

In division 3, Smallbrook Aliens continue their charge with another win this week over Newport Vics D, 7-3.
