CURLING ANOTHER former Islander is making his name in the world of curling this weekend.
After Garion Long, a former Kitbridge Middle pupil who moved to New Zealand made the national under-21s squad, former St Wilfrid’s Primary School, Ventnor, pupil David Peek, 25, has been picked for Wales.
David, who now lives in Manchester, took up curling after the 2010 Winter Olympics, travelling to Queensferry in North Wales for training, and will represent Wales in the Four Nations curling event in Ayr, Scotland tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.
David, who is also the webmaster for the Welsh Curling website, works as a broadcast journalist.
