THE sun shone on more than 250 people taking part in Sunday’s West Wight Triathlon.
Top athletes mingled with complete novices in the sunshine for the 600m pool swim, 35km bike ride and 7.5km run, with times ranging from 1.32.48 — completed by winner and Mark Threlfall — through to 3.12.02 achieved by former IW High Sheriff Susie Sheldon.
The men’s race was dominated by Threlfall, who was a clear five minutes ahead of Wight Tri’s Dave Sweet in second, and West Wight athlete Jack Grundy in third. The women’s event was won by Maxine Lane, with Pilcher-Brett-Pilcher the top team.
