THE fourth Westridge Golf Centre Pro-Am had 54 amateurs playing with nine professional golfers, including two who have competed on the European Tour.
Anyone who got a hole in one on either the 7th or 16th hole would have been rewarded with a holiday at the Paradise Park resort in Tenerife, which also sponsored two nearest the pin prizes. The hole in one was not achieved; however Terry Wackrill was resting one inch away and took the Pro nearest the pin prize with Gary Cox taking the Am prize.
Chris Tyson and Gary Stubbington scored 63 to lead the professionals scoring from Tony Lloyd and Chris Reed with 64. The team of Gary Cox, Sue Cox and Bob Singh-Bansi was leading the team score with a total of 106 an impressive 18 under par. This was closely followed by Chris Hayward, Liam Whittock and Tim Entwhistle with 108. The best score of the day came from home professional Simon Hayward shooting a 3 under par round 59 to go with the morning score of 66 and with professional Chris Reed shooting a 61, this lead to both players sharing the title.
The afternoon scores did not threaten the top of the team leaderboard, with the best coming from Gary Beauchamp, Terry Wackrill and Joe Wright, with a total of 109 to put them into third place.
The winning team of Sue Cox, Gary Cox and Bob Singh-Bansi thanked everyone for making it a fantastic day and paid tribute to Joanne Wright, as did all the professionals, for the buffet provided and Paul Jenkins for the condition of the golf course.
