Cinderella with a difference

Blue Sky Arts performing Commotion in the Ocean, the Christmas show at Riverside Centre, Newport.

MEMBERS of Wight Blue SkyArts group put on a dazzling Christmas production — Oh, yes they did!

A cast of 14 performers, sporting fabulous costumes, wowed a packed audience of around 100 people at the Riverside Centre with Commotion in the Ocean, a play based on the classic Cinderella fairytale but with one or two surprises.

The fantastic family show, directed by artistic director Stephanie Wilmott, featured music and dancing and all the fun of panto.

Now in its third successful year, Wight BlueSkyArts runs workshops in drama, performing and visual arts for people with learning disabilities. Based at the Riverside Centre, it is totally independent and self-funding.

"We have around 20 people on our register but there is room for more," said Derick Oakham, office manager, who also played the dame.
