Regarding a report concerning the case against Dr Bray, (Doctor disciplined for threatening his patient', January 24).

It should be pointed out that Dr Bray was not blamed for the death of Elise Dooley by the British Medical Council.

Although he did fail to find anything wrong with her, the following day she was diagnosed by the hospital as having a shadow on her lung and presumably she was then treated by the hospital.

Her subsequent death could hardly be attributed to a delay of one day.

All people make mistakes in their working lives but when it is a doctor he is expected to be infallible.

I and a number of my friends have been patients of Dr Bray for many years and he has never failed to display anything but competence and treat each patient with understanding and sympathy.

Good doctors are scarce and we should value them instead of trying to make their lives more burdensome than they are already.
