STAGE REVIEW

RYDE High School pupils told a wonderful tale about Wonderland during their performance of Alice.

The comical story of Alice, the title role superbly played by Hayley Morris, took the audience through a journey of a wonderland of fantasy.

She met some colourful characters along the way, including the delightful double act of Alex Mountford and Bradley Stockdale, who were outstanding as Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum.

Bella McCrimmon was hilarious as the caterpillar and Cass Loe and Jodie Harper had the audience in stitches as the Queen’s cooks.

Gemma Kaye played the very cute white rabbit and Eloise De Carvalho was brilliant as the crab, causing havoc with her gang of animals.

Dom Rose added to the fun as the smiling Cheshire cat but the loudest laugh of the night was saved for the moment Katie Hayles, playing the Queen, had a custard pie thrown in her face.

The entire cast deserve praise for their performances, especially as the hour-long show was put together in just four weeks.

The orchestra was superb, as were the backing singers who enhanced the musical scenes, which included some nice solos from Grace Crumplin.

The simple props were effective and a special mention should be made for the backstage crew because the costumes and make-up were very impressive.
