THE number could be up for a community bingo session which pays for a pensioners' party.
In its heyday, Slade Green Community Association's bingo club, based at Slade Green Community Centre, Bridge Road, for about 25 years, attracted more than 300 members a session. But organisers say since the rival Riva Bingo Hall, in Bexleyheath, opened in 1998, the number of people coming has dropped to 37.
Organiser Christine Burton said: “If we are forced to close, the old folks' won't get their party. We are a friendly group, not as expensive as our rival.”
