A TRAINING camp for GB's Down syndrome swimming team was able to go ahead — thanks to the Isle of Wight.
Portsmouth's Mountbatten Swimming Pool was due to host the event but delays with ongoing maintenance work meant it was unavailable.
The Island's GB squad member, Zac Lacey, and his family, offered to step in and with the help of the community, were able to provide the squad with a land training session at Ryde's St Mary's Primary School, led by GB synchronised swimming coach Rhiannon Williams.
That was followed by a session at Waterside Pool involving a number of Island swimming coaches, before the squad were treated to a buffet at the newly-opened Duck restaurant, formerly the Beijing Palace.
