YOUNG artists won children's books signed by top authors at Wycombe Library.

Cllr Margaret Dewar, portfolio holder for libraries and heritage, visited the library in Queen Victoria Road on Friday to present eight winners of a Christmas colouring competition with their prizes.

Janet Smith, children's librarian said: "It was a great success. It ties in with the Read-On scheme, a national reading development scheme which encourages all ages to use libraries and read more.

"It was an ideal time to run a colouring competition over the holidays as it gives the children something to do."

Jacqueline Wilson, Roger McGough and Alan Gibbon were among the artists that signed books for the competition.

An exhibition of the winning pictures is now running in the children's library.
