THE Demon Aliens, the Demon Skater Hockey Club's youth first team, fought off strong competition to win the NSHL Challenge Cup at Littleport last weekend.

The Aliens strolled through the group stages, notching up wins of 6-2, 13-1 and 10-1, along with a surprise 2-2 draw with the dangerous-looking Cambridge Monsoon.

The semi-final saw the Aliens face their teammates, the Gremlins. With both teams tired from the frantic play of the previous games this was a subdued affair, but once again the Aliens proved to much and they went through to a final against the Lakenheath Ice Dogs.

It was not a good start for the Aliens who found themselves 4-0 approaching time, though a goal from Ricky Saunders-Santos just before half time seemed to give the team the inspiration they needed.

The second half commenced at a furious pace, and the Aliens managed to pull back the score to 4-4 at the end of full time through goals from Alec Fisher and James Pattison.

Within two minutes of extra time the Aliens had moved ahead with a goal from Fisher and late goal from James Beard secured a well-deserved victory for the Aliens.
