SIGNIFICANT improvements are being made in performance, according to North Essex Health Authority, which is hailing succeses in a recent Government Performance Indicator report.

Major successes include a 30.4 per cent improvement in surgery rates for cardiovascular heart disease, and more than a quarter improvements in emergency re-admissions for fractured hips, and an improvement of 18.6 per cent in the number of people returning home within 56 days after treatment for a stroke.

The health authority has also scored well against the national average of teenage pregnancies, 31.8 per 100,000 people compared to the national avarage of 44.7.
