PARENTS at a primary school are campaigning to have free car parking access at a nearby swimming pool.

Hillingdon Council received a petition of 265 signatures from parents of children attending Botwell House Roman Catholic School, Botwell Lane, Hayes, demanding charges for use of the car park adjacent to Hayes Pool, Central Avenue, Hayes, be lifted.

But the proposal due to be discussed at Tuesday's (Feb 5) Youth and Leisure Sub-Committee has been recommended for refusal.

Parents are asking for the normal charge of 40p an hour for using the council-owned car park be dropped for times coinciding with school start and finish times.

Hayes Pool swimmers are currently the only drivers who receive a refund when they hand in a parking receipt, but parents from the school hope they can change this.

The car park, which is monitored by parking enforcement officers who check tickets and hand out fines, is under review for redevelopment so any arrangement would be short-term.
