NORTHWOOD Cemetery has been targeted by vandals who drove across the grass, churning up soil and leaving tyre tracks near graves.
Police are investigating reports that a vehicle, possibly a black 4 x 4, was seen in the area at the time. It is believed petrol or diesel was pouring from the vehicle’s fuel cap and petrol tracks were found on pathways.
The incident happened sometime between Saturday and Sunday, February 7 and 8, and anyone with information, or who saw a vehicle being driven in the cemetery grounds, is asked to contact the Cowes Safer Neighbourhoods team on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
