ON December 1, members of Penge Rotary Club asked shoppers at Penge Sainsbury's to buy an extra food item in their shopping and donate it to the Rotary Club for distribution to those in need at Christmas. Age Concern collected the tins and packets of food for the distribution and the Rotary Club would like to thank the residents of Penge who in a few hours on that day gave some 850 items, including two Christmas Cakes, plus £121 in cash.
On the two Saturdays before Christmas members collected in the High Street, and a total of £820.10 was received. All of that amount is being donated to various local charities and once again thanks to all who so generously contributed.
The Rotary Club of Penge do need to continue their uninterrupted 76 year history - if anyone is interested to find out more, please contact Secre-tary Alan Davis on 020 8467 2032.
