Youth football: Dons lift cup

Hendon U17, runners-up to Princes Park in the Harrow Youth League Cup final last year, went one better with a fine 2-1 win over Sudbury Court, who had beaten them twice in the league, 4-0 and 5-2.

Hendon should have led 3-0 at half-time, but had to wait until the 63rd minute for the opening goal by Wayne Da Costa.

Sudbury equalised when a free-kick was deflected past keeper John Rogers.

Substitute Ehi Hayble grabbed the winner in the 83rd minute, after Dwane Quarrie ended a forceful run with a powerful shot that caused chaos.

HENDON: Rogers, Parker, Flynn, Brown (Hayble), Briden, Fish, Quarrie, Bor, Cylwik, Da Costa,Delandro. Subs: Ellis, Boateng, Neville, Odegenabe.

Hendon U16 claimed their second straight Harrow Youth League title, becoming Division One champions with a 3-2 win over Northwood, whose title hopes were ended.

After dominating the first half-hour, Hendon conceded two goals in a minute, and a crucial save by Laming prevented a third.

Then Nathan Edwards replied with a powerful shot on the stroke of half-time, and four minutes into the second half, fired the equaliser, following good work by Terry Walton, who hit the 50th-minute winner from 15 yards. Walton was again on target for the U16s in a 1-0 away win over Harrow St Marys.

Hendon's young U18 side share second place following their 2-1 away win over an older, physical Harpenden Town team.
