THE days of being bullied by lorry drivers on motorways may soon come to an end thanks to a new telephone hotline scheme.

Erith-based freight company Europa Worldwide Services has become one of a growing number of firms subscribing to the Good Lorry Code - a project to tackle bad driving among HGV drivers.

All the firm's 26 vehicles will carry a Well Driven? logo and a freephone number inviting road users to ring up and comment on the operation of the vehicle.

Drivers with Europa have been trained beyond the legal minimum for HGV operators and learned to respect other road users and pedestrians.

Lorries will be kept clean and well maintained and every legal requirement will be strictly adhered to.

Transport director of Europa Ron Miller said: "I am sure we will benefit from using the Good Lorry Code system. It will enhance our service level to our customers by showing we care."
