MOVIES, in particular, Star Wars, was the theme for the wedding of Philip Russell and Amy Mackelden, who met when they were pupils at the former Trinity Middle School, Newport.
The bridegroom, an IT developer, is the son of the Rev and Mrs Jon Russell, of Allendale, Northumberland.
The bride, a writer, is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Mackelden, of Moor Lane, Brighstone.
The bride wore a three-quarter-length blue brocade and satin dress with a floral lace overlay and a diamante-encrusted veil. She carried a bouquet made from buttons and charms.
She was attended by Cheryl Brett (bride’s sister) and Lily McClement, Chloe Ward and Kate Eldridge, who all wore dresses made from vintage Star Wars fabric and carried white roses.
Logan Brett, two (bride’s nephew) was page boy.
Stephen Russell (bridegroom’s brother) was best man, with Sam Maslen, James Hudson and Max Raymond acted as ushers.
The ceremony was officiated by Maureen Bell at the Washington Old Hall, Tyne and Wear, followed by a reception at Eslington Villa Hotel, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The honeymoon was spent in New York and the couple will live in Gateshead.
