I write with regard to your article about the Queen's Golden Jubilee and suitable celebrations (News Shopper, January 30).
People of my generation can remember the lovely street parties we all had as children.
Unfortunately there are now so many districts that have so few children, certainly not the numbers that made the parties the memorable events they were.
I really can't see adults eating in the streets with paper hats on and waving flags.
Surely it would not be too difficult for local councils to organise some sort of Golden Jubilee type of fete in one of their parks.
We in Lewisham have something called "Peoples Day" in one of our parks, perhaps a similar occasion could be organised with the help of local businesses with entertainment for all ages.
What do you think?
