Clive Lewis, a local businessman, has been drinking in The Queen and Albert in Wooburn Green for six years
What do you usually drink?
Beer -London Pride.
It is extremely well kept.
How long does it take to get served?
Not long. When he sees you come in, Gerry is reaching for the right glass because he knows what everyone likes to drink. That does not mean he will pour it but he anticipates what you would like. He knows what the people drink.
How long have you been drinking here?
I have been drinking here for about six years, since I moved to the area.
How much does a pint cost on average?
Between two pounds and £2.20.
How often do you come here?
About three times a week, mainly in the evenings. It is a very pleasant and friendly pub. Gerry and Elaine are new owners and are very good.
What is the food like?
Excellent. They do good portions of meals.
In 1756 church authorities designated a building on the Green to be the village poor house, and this is now The Queen and Albert.
A trip here wasn't always such fun. People drawing parish relief had to wear a special badge, which was a social stigma.
Today the pub runs quiz nights, occasional music nights, a petanque league and dart league.
