THE finalists for this year’s IW Sports Achievement Awards have been decided.
The IW Sports Foundation, which runs the annual awards, have selected 66 finalists, who will be invited to the ceremony at Medina Theatre on March 22.
The awards recognise outstanding achievement or service among sportsmen and women of all ages on the Island.
This year’s event will celebrate many success stories across a host of different categories.
Susie Sheldon, chair of the IW Sports Foundation, said: “The adjudicators for the 2017 IW Sports Achievement Awards were set an unenviable task with so many nominations of such high quality.
“So many nominees had achieved success at both a national and international level.
“Extremely difficult decisions had to be made in selecting the finalists in all categories and it is always difficult to assess equivalent achievements in different sports.
“We look forward to welcoming the finalists for a special occasion in March.”
The County Press will be publishing details of all the finalists in the run up to the awards ceremony, starting in next week’s edition.
