NEWPORT progressed to the next round of the Hampshire Senior Cup tonight (Tuesday) - but Cowes Sports crashed out.
Newport beat Petersfield Town 3-2 at St George's Park, while Cowes were beaten by the same score at Tadley Calleva.
Emerson Tattersall put Newport ahead, before the visitors equalised, only for Aidan Sainsbury to restore Newport’s advantage before half time.
Scott Sampson scored the all important third, as Newport ran out 3-2 winners.
Cowes, who had Craig Insley sent off, found themselves 2-0 down at half time but Darren Williams got them back in the game.
However, Tadley made it 3-1, before Jimmy Wykes made it 3-2.

Despite creating several chances, Cowes were unable to find an equaliser.
East Cowes Vics play Fawley tomorrow (Wednesday).
