GB SKELETON star Kim Murray has been helping Team IW get ready for this year’s Island Games.
Murray, an IW long jump gold medalist at the games before she switched to skeleton, gave a presentation to the competitors on preparing for competition.
Murray, an exercise physiologist, spoke about overcoming the effects of long-distance travelling, unfamiliar environments, diet, training and recovery.
IW Island Games Association chairman Martin Goodall, who also gave an anti-doping presentation, said: “Travelling away to a games can be a great experience for a sports person but there are many distractions and it can be easy to get ahead of yourself, worry about performance and be overawed by everything.
“Kim spoke about planning and preparation, trying to keep everything that can be controlled under control and trying to stay in the moment while at the games.
“She was delighted to have the chance to come and pass on her experience to the next Team IW competitors and hopefully this will help them enjoy the games and perform at their best.”
